About hiatus collection
Where are we from?
We grew up in the north-east suburbs of Melbourne in St Helena & Eltham and were high school mates. The district is known as the "green wedge" or "Melbourne's lungs" - there are a number of native tree parks, the Yarra River and several important creeks flow through the area. We lived here up until 2020 when James made the bold move to Palm Beach. Tom followed suit about a year and half later to Burleigh Heads.
Unexpected Encounters
So we had actually gone our separate ways a bit since finishing school in 2013 and didn't even know each other had moved up to the coast. Months later in 2022 enjoying our new sandy shores we found out about each other living here and reconnected. We even convinced a few of our other mates to move up and join us in what we call golden strip of Australian living, stretching from Miami down the coast south to Coolangatta.
Where's all the good masculine jewellery
The topic of jewellery surfaced time and again. We would talk about how there wasn't enough good quality masculine style jewellery on the market, we found ourselves captivated by the idea of crafting our own. Tom moved to Palm Beach in 2023 now living just 400 metres apart, the proximity fuelled our creative collaboration. So 1 day we said lets do it and our own jewellery label, Hiatus Collection was born. Our logo, the palm tree is the birth place of Hiatus Collection.
